Biography
Born in Alabama and a graduate of Auburn University, Laurie now lives in Pensacola, FL.
Ms. Flynn workd as staff artist for KVZK-TV, Pago Pago, American Samoa for two years. There she illustrated her first children’s books used to teach English in the village schools. She has designed and illustrated many books for children – among the, The Yawn Book , the 20 volume Creative Activities Program, and the Fun Times series.
Her extensive travels have influenced her art in both media and design. She works primarily in fiber and fabrics. Batik is a favorite medium, and she uses both contemporary and traditional techniques. She creates wearable art by designing custom clothes. The macrame jewelry she designs creates yet another type of wearable art. Fabric collage is another art form devised during the artist’s travelling years.
