Dick Johns

Dick Johns began creating art in wood as a weekend hobby and respite from his business refinishing antiques and cabinetry in Omaha, Nebraska. After retiring to Gulf Breeze, Florida, the hobby evolved into a passionate pursuit. Initially, friends and family were the recipients of his works and soon every surface in the John’s house was covered with his pieces. In response to the clutter, his wife, Marsha, declared, “Enough; start sharing!” And so, shortly thereafter, he became a new artist member at Quayside Art Gallery in Pensacola, Florida.
As his way, Dick encourages visitors to the gallery to pick up his items and feel the wood. Every article in his inventory is identified by the type(s) of wood from which each it was created.
