Debbie Andress
I am a realistic painter who wants the viewer to experience all the beauty of our wildlife. My work depicts an understanding of wildlife’s environment, their habits as well as their habitat.
Debbie was born in Orange, Texas, but has lived most of her life in the Pensacola, Florida area with her
“very wonderful” husband, two sons and three grandchildren. She enjoys painting in oils and mixed media with her favorite subject matter being wildlife and orchids. She first started painting orchids at her parents urging as they are orchid growers and always provided her with an abundant variety of them to paint. Debbie spent several years traveling with them to orchid shows and had the opportunity to show her paintings to numerous art lovers. She can see the beauty in the wild and skillfully capture every nuance. When painting orchids, she strives to capture their fragile nature and all of their subtle colors.
Painting and drawing have been a life-long passion for Debbie. She began taking art classes in high school and has studied locally, as well as with the International wildlife artist, Dharbinder Bamrah. She has won various awards and her paintings are part of many private and corporate collections. She is a proud member of Quayside Art Gallery, one of the oldest and largest co-op galleries in the Southeast. Some of her mixed media (watercolor and acrylic) paintings of hummingbirds and orchids were featured in the Center Gallery at the Performing Arts Association Galleries, Foley, Alabama during February, 2008.
