Biography
Carol Hemmye, a retired college professor of English, lives and works in Pensacola, Florida. Although artistic expression has always been a part of her life, it wasn’t until she retired that she was able to focus on watercolor painting and pen and ink drawing, two of her favorite mediums. Her only formal training is via workshops and community classes. Carol’s still lifes and landscape paintings focus on the beauty and balance found in the natural world, while her pen and ink drawings have a more whimsical approach. The ink pastiche that she uses to embellish sea life like crabs, seahorses, and dolphins, or everyday objects like teacups, guitars, and umbrellas provides a fun look at the mundane. Her work hangs in Michigan, South Carolina, Florida, and Germany.
